The Return of the Legislature

state capitol

The California Legislature reconvenes today after Summer Recess to complete all business for 2011-2012 legislative session by the constitutional deadline of August 31. Legislators have until August 17 to move all bills through the fiscal committees, and then have until the end of the month to have all bills approved and on to the Governor's desk for a signature or veto.

The Legislature will be working at a furious pace until the end of the month so it is critical that you stay as "plugged-in" as possible. As critical issues such as Senator Leland Yee's SB 1002 and municipal bankruptcy continue to be a focal point, it is vital to ensure that the voice of special districts is heard on all integral legislation. Be on the look-out for Legislative Alerts and Calls to Action from CSDA as pertinent bills make their way to the finish line.

For critical information regarding all legislation that impacts special districts, you can visit CSDA's Legislative Access Services here, and for important updates and information, please check out CSDA's Grassroots Action Center here.
